I went to a couple of life drawing sessions over the past few weeks. They are a lot of fun to do and I plan on doing many more in the near future. Some of the sketches were done in 2 min while some of the higher quality ones were done in 20 min. Pencil on paper.

Just a quick exercise. Took a couple of hours. Proportions are a bit off, if this was a finished piece I would have spent time sketching it out first rather than just going straight to the painting. Oh well, it was fun.

I haven’t ever saved images of my art in progress, so this time I decided I would. This started to just be a quick sketch with some value, but I started liking it more and more as I worked on it, so I’ll probably turn this into a completed piece eventually. This is at the 3 hour mark. Photo reference is being used. The color blobs on the side are there for when I’m painting to switch colors I’ve been using. Makes things easier.

I have my math 115 final very soon, but math sucks and scorpions are way cooler. Reference was used. 1.5 hours, digital.

It seems like a lot of artists do quick, timed sketches to improve drawing and seeing skills. Here is a quick one I did of Alina Vacariu. I realize there are about a billion things wrong, but it at least somewhat resembles a female’s face, so I’m okay with it. Finished in 25 min, Corel Painter X.

Shade is lots of fun. I made these the other night, just testing out how it renders glass. The background isn’t quite working though, but I’ll have to figure that out another day.
